I’m currently working as a full-time ecologist/project manager but it has turned out to be much more of an office job than I was hoping for. I still get in the field a few times a week but usually it’s for brief site visits, and then I’m back in the office. I’m still relatively early in my career, and not sure I want to be stuck in the office so much at this point. That wasn’t my vision when I first got into ecology. Has anyone here taken a potentially lower-paying field job to get back outside? Or had a different experience going from a more office-based job to a field job?
