United Airlines to ditch plastic stirring straws and cocktail picks

United Airlines is the latest company to ban plastic doo-dads.

Starting in early November, United will replace plastic stirring sticks and cocktail picks used on its aircraft with an environmentally friendly alternative made from bamboo.

United is joining American Airlines, Starbucks and other companies choosing to ditch the plastic straw.

United is also evaluating more sustainable options for its catering operations, and it already recycles aluminum cans, paper and plastic products on board its planes.
