Woolly Mammoths would prevent the permafrost from melting and help save the planet

The article is short and incomplete almost to the point of ridiculousness, but has me really interested in the results of a properly designed quantitative experiment about how much heat energy warm-bodied animals in cold environments use and whether it could really be a significant proportion of the total incident solar radiation/area.

As far as I know, almost all global/regional heat balance studies pretty much totally ignore animals.
